Abstract In order to respond to the international trend of promoting zero emissions of greenhouse gases, carbon sequestration has become one of the twelve key strategies for Taiwan′s 2050 net-zero emissions. With an estimated forest area of 2 million hectares, covering nearly 60% of the island′s land, forests in Taiwan can offset about 7.6% of the country′s emissions. In this context, the use of AIoT technology for forest carbon sequestration monitoring is proposed. Historical data on tree species of Taiwan will be used as training data to establish deep learning models for monitoring the growth of forest carbon sequestration. This will increase the accuracy of monitoring and reduce the need for human and time in investigation. The data obtained from the monitoring can be used to formulate forest improvement plans aimed at maximizing the carbon sequestration capacity of forests.
